As fortunelords.com reports, 1,300,000,000 people currently use YouTube. If you (or me) decides to create a thoughtful and engaging channel, how long do you think that will take?
The answer is obviously, that it depends.
If you're a YouTube Channel that specializes in makeup or hair, you have a chance at being fairly popular fairly quickly. If you're a bit more, shall we say, niche, like Fascimation or other channels like Vsauce or Kurzgesagt, then it may take more time for you to find your footing.
It certainly has for me.
Forbes.com says that in business interactions, we have all of seven seconds to make a good first impression. I have 132 subscribers, and I have to constantly remind myself that it's not about the numbers, its about making that first impression and making it stick.
I also have long stretches of time where I don't upload anything.
If this seems less than professional, it's only because I don't believe in uploading for the sake of uploading. The people I have connected with have been super--wonderful people who genuinely love cartoons, like me! I feel a strong sense of wanting to put out something good, nay GREAT, for each and every one of them. If I put out something that is less than that, it gives me a lot of anxiety and I can't really live with doing that.
I also work about 4 jobs right now.
So it's about making each and every minute of my time count. Every day, I feel as though I am getting more of a handle on my time management. I want everyone to stay patient and supportive of the channel as I work to create great videos for my small, but awesome audience. I'm proud to say that I've got two videos in the can, which I'm proud of. They will be up by mid-October.
This isn't an apology or an explanation (maybe a combination of the two), but its just a peek behind the curtain and also maybe something I'm doing for my own peace of mind haha. At any rate, thanks so much to those who have stuck with the channel. It is truly my pride n joy, as are all of you. Looking forward to what lies ahead!
xx
